Esplora Santos

In the last decade or so, the up-and-coming quarter of Santos has slowly but surely been tiptoeing its way into the spotlight. Sitting merrily alongside the Tagus River, its edgy but lovable streets have become home to a burgeoning design district, an epicentre for the progressive arts, craft studios, alternative galleries and nonchalant boutiques. This, along with the Institute of Art, Design and Enterprise at its centre, has attracted a local community consisting largely of designers, artists and students whom have joined its older residents. By day, Santos is a peaceful area to find yourself in, there is the river’s calm banks, a little square and a park. At night, bars and restaurants in hideaway side streets come to life, while many of the locals head to the nearby nightlife hub of Bairro Alto.
