Explorer Ciutadella

"Ciutadella has Barcelona on its doorstep. Take coffee on the Passeig del Bom and a gentle stroll to the Museu Picasso de Barcelona. Then let the gentle touch of sea breezes caress your face on the Joan de Borbó Passeig Maritim. But, whatever else you do in Ciutadella head to its heart and the urban lungs of the city, the Parc de la Ciutadella. In the 18th-century Felipe V built his citadel as a symbol of Bourbon domination. The palace lasted little more than a hundred years but the park lives on, loved by locals and visitors alike. Some even go as far as to say that it's Europe's most romantic park. It's certainly a vibrant place that all ages make the most of. If you're lucky your visit might coincide with music in the bandstand or a jazz concert in the Winter Garden, or Hivernacle, the perfect spot to take a break for lunch. Watch out for the giant mammoth lurking in the shade of trees before walking under the gentle, yet enigmatic gaze of the Lady with the Umbrella as you enter Barcelona Zoo. It will take a couple of hours to visit its many animals, so recharge your batteries with a gentle row on the Cascade Lake."
